Description

A renewable energy company involved in planning and designing wind farms in the UK, is seeking to recruit a junior ecologist to join their in-house environmental team in the south west of England. This is a unique chance to work client side and learn from other environmental professionals involved in disciplines such as landscape architecture, hydrology and EIA.

You will work alongside a Senior/Principal Ecologist to undertake the following tasks:
• Field work
• Protected species surveys
• Writing ecology chapters for planning permissions

To qualify for this position you will have graduated from a relevant environmental science degree and will want to continue your professional training in ecology. You will need to have started post graduate UK employment in ecology either through environmental consultancy or practical field studies in a related role.

As a Senior Air Quality Consultant within our Environmental Impact Assessment team, you will be working in one of the most respected environmental divisions in the UK. Right from day one, you will be working on some high profile, complex development projects including major redevelopment and regeneration schemes, large industrial and oil and gas programmes, infrastructure projects and Public Sector initiatives.

The role holds responsibility to carry out air quality assessments and help develop the air quality capabilities within the UK by providing research and professional consulting services, whilst offering support and supervision to junior air quality staff. You would be expected to deliver strong project management capabilities to, prepare air quality studies, both free standing and for Environmental Statements. You will naturally be expected to identify commercial opportunities to expand URS's role on projects and therefore play a key role in increasing the client base.

The ideal candidate will have an in depth experience in UK based environmental consultancy covering air quality and EIA. The candidate will also have experience of UK regulatory systems, air quality legislation in the UK, and clients. Experience of running air quality models is essential (including ADMS-Roads, DMRB screening, ADMS, and/or AERMOD), preparing air quality chapters for Environmental Statements and monitoring air quality impacts. You will also be able to demonstrate an aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss modelling and ambient monitoring.
