Stop emitting CO2 or geoengineering could be our only hope

Geoengineering CoverThe future of the Earth could rest on potentially dangerous and unproven geoengineering technologies unless emissions of carbon dioxide can be greatly reduced, the latest Royal Society report has found.

Geoengineering the climate: Science, governance and uncertainty (published 1st September by the Royal Society) found that unless future efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are much more successful than they have been so far, additional action in the form of geoengineering will be necessary if we are to cool the planet. read more....

Get SORTED

Research undertaken by the Barclaycard Commercial Business Travel Survey shows that greater focus on managing environmental impacts in an effort to drive down business travel costs does not appear to be working.

Get Sorted The deciding factor in these decisions is not longer term environmental impact, but short term responses to the current business climate. Of the 15 per cent of business travellers who anticipated travelling less this year, three out of five respondents (57%) will be doing this in response to declining business or cost issues and only one per cent as a result of a company environmental policy. read more....

Book CoverThe Handbook of Sustainability Literacy was launched this month. This important new education resource takes a sharp look at the skills, attributes and competencies that learners will need for surviving and thriving in the 21st century. The authors include leading sustainability educators as well as specialists from a wide range of disciplines from engineering to art, and the resource will be useful for lecturers, teachers and students across all study areas. read more...
